Tri-County Chambers -- Regional Road Priorities Discussion
Representatives from the Tri County Chambers group recently sat down with Illinois State Senators David Koehler (D) of the 46th District, Dale Risinger (R) of the 37th District, and Martin Sandoval (D) of the 12th District, to share their regional road priorities list. Traditionally the list has been shared with local legislators, city councils and county boards but this year the group was able to meet face to face with one of the leaders of the state’s transportation committee to express Central Illinois’ needs.
They discussed the state of the Capital Program and its impact on current and future central Illinois regional road projects, the stabilization of revenue streams for the Capital Program, and the balance of funding between the Chicago area and the rest of the State. Senator Sandoval said, “I’m going to ensure that these projects … remain funded” and “I will not be of any use to the people of Illinois unless I am sure that the taxpayers funding reaches back every corner of the state.”
The Senators also stressed the importance of participating in similar meetings in the future to ensure that lines of communication between the Chicago area and central Illinois remain open.
