Intellihot Green Technologies Inc., a 2009 start-up company in the Peoria NEXT Innovation Center, is nominated as one of the best energy start-up companies in the U.S. Start-up companies can receive further support with votes to make the final round of the competition. Vote for Intellihot at http://startups.cringely.com. After signing in users can vote for nominations by rating them with stars and commenting on the submission.

Companies can be nominated in one of six categories, biotech, energy, entertainment, information technology, material, and transportation. 24 start-up companies will be selected and these winners will be featured in a 13-part TV reality series which is set to air in September or October on a major cable network.

Robert X. Cringley, author of the technology blog I, Cringley created this startup company competition to raise attention on how important start-up companies are to the American economy. According to a recent study by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, a partner of the competition, companies less than five years old generated nearly two-thirds of the new jobs created in the U. S. in 2007.

Intellihot Green Technologies Inc. was formed in 2009 by former Caterpillar Inc. employees, Sivaprasad Akasam and Sridhar Deivasigamani. Located in the Peoria NEXT Innovation Center, Intellihot has developed a state-of-the art demand tankless water heater that uses conventional materials and advanced electronics. This green water heater extracts nearly 98% of energy, provides unlimited hot water, and occupies very little space.
