WHAT: Groundbreaking Ceremony for UICOMP’s Cancer Research Expansion Project

The University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria (UICOMP) will officially break ground on its collaborative Cancer Research Expansion Project on August 16, 2010, at 10 a.m. This special ceremony will include participation by Regional Dean Sara L. Rusch, M.D., University of Illinois President Michael J. Hogan, UIC Chancellor Paula Allen-Mears, Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood, Congressman Aaron Schock, Mayor Jim Ardis, and Heartland Partnership President and CEO Jim McConoughey.
Announced in July of 2007, the Cancer Research Expansion Project will bring millions of dollars and dozens of jobs to the region. The 24,000-square-foot facility will allow UICOMP’s Dr. Jasti Rao to expand his world-class research program with renowned cancer investigators and cutting-edge technology.
