“I'm Stepping Up" & "Project Pack the Place” Go Retro
Partners with the “I’m Stepping Up” community campaign unveiled some new components of the project including a newly renovated website (www.imsteppingup.net) and new TV and radio commercials that highlight individuals who are stepping up to make this a better region. Project partners also announced that the next "Project Pack the Place" event will be September 24th at O’Brien Field as the Peoria Symphony Orchestra presents the Classical Mystery Tour – A Tribute to the Beatles.
Heartland Partnership CEO Jim McConoughey said the Classical Mystery Tour is a “Beatles tribute concert with four performers who look like, sound like and act just like the Beatles and they are accompanied by musicians from the Peoria Symphony.”
New Peoria Symphony Orchestra Music Director, George Stelluto, said being a part of the “I’m Stepping Up” campaign and “Project Pack the Place” is a great opportunity for new people to experience the PSO and for people to see the PSO in a different light.
PNC Bank Regional President and project sponsor Doug Stewart said “'Project Pack the Place' was designed to increase community vibrancy, generate enthusiasm for the great entertainment venues of our region and boost the regional economy. There have been two events so far (Peoria Chiefs and Wildlife Prairie State Park) drawing between 200-400 people each and we hope this event will be no different. This is a great way to showcase what our region has to offer for entertainment.”
Pack the Place tickets are on sale now for $20 each for blocks of 10 or more and participants will receive an "I’m Stepping Up" t-shirt. Call the PSO office at 671-1096 to order.
The “I’m Stepping Up” campaign has been underway for five months and was designed to get people to start talking about the good things that are happening in this region. The campaign is built around a blue box that participants step up onto in order to share their success stories with the community. These boxes are on display at area businesses, and people and organizations are sending in photos and videos of their stepping up stories to the website every day (www.imsteppingup.net). "Project Pack the Place" is a component of the campaign.
